  • Architect – we all know what services they perform, check out the Australian Institute of Architects as a starting point, or a local starting point Lyons Architects
  • Builders – there are many to choose from, associations that assistance in supervision of the industry is a good place to start try the MBA.
  • Drafting & Design – many consultants to choose try GRH Designs
  • Engineers – Civil/Construction/Electrical Association, is your starting point.
  • Housing & Works Department – The Department of Housing covers public and community housing, Aboriginal and regional housing, Keystart home loans and property sales.
  • Housing Industry Forecast Group (“HIFG“) – 2008 JV  between  Department of Planning and the Department of Housing
  • Landgate –  is WA’s source of land & geographic info including: property details, titles, valuations, sales reports, maps & more.
  • Local Governments – are the creation of the States in Australia and their functions are varied but all include planning and development and building and subdivision. Our local goverment (council) is the shire of <Cockburn>.
  • National Housing Supply Council(“NHSC“) – 2008 indeopendent reporting to minister of housing to monitor housing demand, supply and affordability.
  • Property Associations : <PCA> – represents the nation’s major investors, developers, & professional & service providers;  <UDIA> – represents the urban development industry; <PIAA> – for property investors and professionals servicing cutomers wishing to invest in property, mostly residential.
  • Property research providers – these provide info and data for people in the property industry, three mentioned here are:
    • Rpdata – provider of property information, analytics and risk management services.
    • PIR –  independent property research group specialising in the analysis of industry trends, high quality coverage of A-REITs, and independent evaluation of unlisted managed investment schemes. Other research houses include morningstar (www.morningstar.com.au) and vaneyk (http://www.vaneyk.com.au/launchpad/index.cfm)
    • Residex – Australia’s leading Provider of Accurate Property Information http://www.residex.com.au/, to name a few.
  • Surveyors – First try land Surveyors Licensing Board, we have used PPS
  • Real Estate Institute of Western Australia – REIWA is  a association for real estate agents in WA, its website showcases properties for sale, to rent, new homes & developments, market & real estate info & much more.
  • Realestate.com.au – properties for sale and more.
  • Rent.com.au – properties for rent
  • Town planners – as the name suggests consult on planning & urban design and liase extensively with councils, WAPC, heritage groups, etc. , one such firm is TPG, our contact is Andrew Howe.
  • West Australian Planning Commission – WAPC is the statutory authority responsible for urban, rural and regional land use planning and land development for the <State> , <Local> & <regional> autorities  responding to the strategic direction of government.
  • Depreciation reports  –  required for preparing income tax returns and claiming the capital allowance for the building cost and depreciation for chattels.  We generally recommend that you don’t obtain costs from third parties, it is often much more time and cost effective to engage a consultant to provide a approved depreciation report, such as Depro.
